I am fortunate to still be in good shape for strength and mobility in concerned but fitness for golf and life has been a priority of mine since I was young. Because of this my swing does not need to allow for many restrictions or compensations but I still want it to flow for a natural golf swing that generates power and is consistent and very importantly is safe for my body to keep playing for many decades to come.
Too much golf instruction is focussed on the young whipersnappers like Jordan Spieth, Rory Mcilroy and Fowler but these PGA tour players are a far cry and age away from many golfers who spend too much time sitting and do not have the time to practice or train for golf even 5% as much as the top players.
So why teach golfers to try and swing like them?
Makes very little sense.
So this simple golf tip today is about letting your body work naturally for you and your golf swing to hit longer drives and more consistent shots.
What I want you to try is to allow your body, hips to open up and flow with minimal restriction on your backswing. If you need the front leg heel to come off the ground then so be it! It’s a natural move and one that served many generations of golfers for many years of pain free golf… Long before the need for golf fitness or physio work after every single round of golf played.
So feel how your body wants to move and focus on flow and full movements and you body and golf swing will function a lot better and more importantly for this, it will give you more effortless swing speed and increase your driver distances.
