THE SUPER HALF SHAFT DRILL FOR CONNECTION CONSISTENCY & WIDTH

This simple golf swing drill really delivers a lot of benefits for just one move and is very useful on the golf course or on the practice range as well because it will dial in a feeling of consistency, connection and release, both of which will give you more consistency and better swing speed through the ball. https://theartofsimplegolf.com/free/

Alex Fortey here, The Art of Simple Golf. One thing to note is that collapsing your arms or causing a chicken wing is disastrous for pretty much every single golf shot you hit, whether it’s your drives, whether it’s your wedges or irons.. And what I mean by that is you know, collapsing arms being a little bit too narrow on the backswing, which I see so so very often is actually a killer move because not only from here it’s going to cause casting, but it’s also just going to cause very weak power and basically in consistencies.

So what we need to do is find a very simple drill that’s going to give you a feeling of more width and extension through the ball.

And it’s a lot easier than you might think.

So this drill is you’re holding the club halfway down.

You take your normal swing position.

So I’m not quite touching my belly, which depends how big your belly is. But from this position, all we’re doing is we’re making our turn hinging up so we’ve got a full swing in this manner. And then we’re coming through and extending out. I’m not hitting myself. If I were to collapse like this, I’m going to end up hitting myself. And this is what a lot of you will do if you hit at the ball. If your swing focus is down here, we get cramped, the arms bend, and we get too narrow.

So then we get stuck. And then basically the bad shots happen. So we need to do is take a grip halfway down, make your turn and make your turn and feel like you’re extending towards the target.

Throwing that club there.

You can make it harder by shortening the club. So we really extending up and we do that a few times and then go straight to the ball and not trying to hit it too hard, but the same sensation emphasizing that extension through the ball.

So try that a few times, and I’m certain you’re going to start seeing a difference, not in the visual aspects of your gold string, but also the results. Enjoy.

There is a lot you can do to improve your golf swing and golf game at home so there are no excuses to be very rusty because of lack of time.

(Of course the more you can play and have efficient practice, the better you will get) but you can certainly keep your game moving in the right direction. you those “a’ha” moments that click your swing and focus into place.

Because from those moments you can play free flowing effortless and most importantly better golf Improving at golf does not need to be very complicated or time consuming .
